I come from the part of the world where women who are 30 years and above are not expected to be single, they are expected to be married.
This has really influenced the rate at which couples end their marriage and has put a lot of pressure on women who are above the age of 30.
Because of the societal pressure, a lot of women are forced to get married to people they are not supposed to be married to.
This belief is very harmful because most people only focus on getting married, they don't care if you have a healthy marriage or not.
It also make people feel like it's a bad thing to be single, which can make those that are yet to marry begin to doubt themselves.
Some of the common priorities in marriage are family, plans for career and long-term goals.
It is important that couples have matching priorities, they also have to be able to work as a team in order to make their priorities a reality.
When couples priorities are different and they are not ready to work together or reach a compromise, then the end result will be bad.
For example, your main priority might be to build your family while your partner's priority might be his or her career.
Although they are two good priorities, they can't go together.
If you experience this in your marriage, you might have married the wrong person.
Before you start a relationship, you have to talk with each other. Whether it's a new friend, neighbors, colleagues, boyfriend or girlfriend, you have to start with talking.
So this shows that communication is very important in any relationship.
So seeing a married couple not talking to each other is something surprising.
It's understandable when they are having some arguments and disagreements but to not talk when they have no issues shows lack of communication between them.
For you to have a healthy marriage, you have to be each other's best friend and companion.
When the passionate affection you have for each other begin to decline, the good communication, laughter and friendship you share with your partner will be the things that will keep you going.
Without honesty, there is no way a marriage will succeed. This is because honesty is very important in any relationship.
A marriage where partners lie to each other and keep secrets from each other will never make any headway.
When you realize that the person you married keep secrets from you or lie to you everytime to the extent that you no longer trust what they say, you might have married the wrong person.
